Garden Design Process

Design Brief

I gather needs, site conditions and constraints, define aesthetic and functional goals, and translate everything into clear, measurable requirements to guide the project.

An archaeologist measures a site with a tape measure, standing on a stone ledge, with a clipboard in hand. The landscape includes dirt excavation areas, small bushes, trees, houses, and a distant city skyline.

Site Analysis

We study the site by surveying its topography, soil, microclimates, drainage, existing vegetation and views to inform a sustainable, site-specific garden design.

Design Concept

I develop the design concept - a visual and functional framework that guides aesthetic choices, materials, and planting.

Three people sit around a wooden table discussing landscape design plans, with printed landscape images, coffee mugs, and a notepad on the table, and large windows showing greenery outside.

Master Plan

I develop a Master Plan with a cohesive design including realistic renders to visualise the result before we build.

Technical and Build Plans

I provide clear technical drawings, material specifications, costs and a phased construction schedule for the garden and landscape build.

Build

I coordinate procurement and collaborators to turn technical plans into your dream garden.
