Biodiverse landscapes for residential, commercial and public spaces

A serene garden landscape with a rectangular pool in the center, surrounded by lush greenery, trees, and colorful flowers, with mountains in the background at sunset.

Alan Walker Landscapes is a landscape design studio based in Bologna, Italy, serving resdiential, commercial and public space internationally. A studio where sustainable and naturalistic principles guide every project.

From initial concept to planting plans, each design prioritises native species, water-wise practices, and habitat creation to support wildlife.

Each project reflects Alan’s commitment to thoughtful, effective landscapes that celebrate a location’s character and natural rhythms.

Ethos

My landscape design ethics center on supporting nature as a guiding principle.

I design with native and regionally appropriate species first, create layered habitats with trees, shrubs, perennials, and groundcovers, and incorporate features like pollinator corridors, bird-friendly plantings, and seasonal food sources. By enhancing structural diversity and connectivity, the landscapes I design become living networks that support ecological function rather than simply serving as decorative green spaces.

My naturalistic, low-maintenance approach blends natural aesthetics with ecological sensitivity to create landscapes that look effortless and evolve gracefully with minimal intervention. I favor plant communities that self-regulate, require fewer inputs, and tolerate local climate extremes. Low maintenance is about smart design practices that reduce labor while maximizing long-term health and visual richness.
